Introduction

ikko is a Chinese company that specializes in iems. The OH1 is their debut product. Their latest release is the OH10. I would like to thank ikko for this review unit. At the moment, the OH10 can be purchased from Penon Audio.

Unboxing & Accessories

The OH10 comes in a black package with a protective cover that sports the brand logo, artwork, model name and short description of the OH10. Inside the package, there are the OH10, detachable 2 pins 0.78mm cable, tips, ikko pin and information guide in the form of a parchment.

IEM Build & Design

The OH10 is made of copper and the shells are gunmetal grey in color. The outer surface of the shells is coated with titanium paint while the inner surface of the shells has platinum coating. It utilizes 2 pins 0.78mm connectors. The faceplates have an unique pattern. For each shell, there is a vent on the inside and another vent on top. The 2 pins sockets are black and red in color for the left and right shells respectively. The nozzle is slightly angled with metal mesh. It has an ergonomic design that provides a comfortable fit.

Sound Analysis

 

Lows

The OH10 has great sub-bass quantity and there is good extension. The sub-bass reproduction provides a natural and impactful rumble. The bass decay is quick and it contributes to high engagement level. The bass texture is rendered in a smooth manner. The mid-bass has fair amount of body and the slam is delivered tightly. There is a punchy and agile presentation. Each bass note is articulated with intent and impact.

Mids

The midrange on the OH10 has a clean presentation with good transparency level. Vocals are detailed and controlled. The lower midrange has good quantity and male vocals are expressed well without any hollow feeling. The upper midrange has an effective level of forwardness and the boost results in a present female vocals expression. The midrange is presented with clarity and finesse.

Highs

The treble extends well with no sibilance and harshness. The treble expression has body and there is a smooth display with some sparkle to inject energy at the top end. The crisp has good definition. The amount of air rendered is great and there is an open feeling. There is an engaging and controlled treble presentation.

Soundstage

The OH10 has a natural expansion and the soundstage has good width magnitude. The depth is not closed in. There is a spacious presentation.

Cable Build & Design

The cable has a 4 core braided design and it is made of OFC silver-plated. The 2 pins 0.78mm connectors have gunmetal grey housing with blue and red ring on the left and right side respectively. There is memory wire and the cable is enclosed in a transparent heat-shrink tube which is very flexible. There is no chin slider. The y-splitter has a circular shape and it is black in colour. Lastly, the jack is 3.5mm gold plated right angled with strain relief and the housing is black in colour.

Comparisons

 

ikko OH10 vs ikko OH1

The OH10 has more sub-bass quantity and it is able to extend greater. The sub-bass reproduction on the OH10 is able to provide a stronger rumble and impact is brought out well. The bass decay on the OH10 is quicker which provides a more agile expression. The bass texture on the both is rendered smoothly. The mid-bass on both has similar quantity but the OH10 is able to deliver the slam with extra punch. Each bass note on the OH10 is articulated with more precision and impact. The midrange on the OH10 is clearer and there is higher transparency level. Vocals are presented with better definition on OH10. The lower midrange on the OH1 has slightly more body than the OH10 and male vocals are expressed in a thicker manner but with reduced clarity. The upper midrange on the OH10 has greater emphasis which gives a livelier female vocals performance. Next, for the treble section, the OH10 has better extension and there is a higher level of energy. The treble expression on the OH1 has more body and it is slightly smoother. The OH10 presents a vivid expression which contributes to an engaging listen. The amount of air rendered by the OH10 is greater. The OH1 takes on a laid-back approach while the OH10 is more vibrant. Lastly, in terms of soundstage, the OH10 expands more naturally with greater width magnitude. The depth on the OH1 is more closed in. There is a more spacious presentation on the OH10.

ikko OH10 vs Moondrop KXXS

The OH10 has more sub-bass quantity than the KXXS and the OH10 commands greater extension. The sub-bass reproduction on the OH10 is able to express its rumble in a more agile manner. The bass decay on the OH10 is quicker than the KXXS and there is a higher engagement level. The bass texture on the KXXS is rendered in a slightly smoother manner. The mid-bass on both has similar quantity but OH10 delivers the slam with additional punch. There is a tighter presentation on the OH10. Each bass note on the OH10 is articulated with an impactful and clean hit. The midrange on the OH10 is more detailed than the KXXS with a higher level of clarity. The KXXS presents vocals in a lush manner. The OH10 has a vibrant presentation. The lower midrange on the KXXS has slightly more body than the OH10 but male vocals are less clear. The upper midrange on the OH10 has additional forwardness and this boost provides a stronger female vocals presence. The OH10 has a more vivid midrange with better definition. For the treble section, the OH10 has greater extension. The treble expression on the OH10 is more energetic and there is an airier feeling. Treble articulation has higher precision level on the OH10. The extra sparkle on the OH10 contributes to a livelier treble expression. The KXXS is smoother with more body. Lastly, in terms of soundstage, the expansion on both is natural. The width magnitude on the OH10 is greater and the depth on the OH10 is less closed in.

Conclusion

 

The OH10 is an engaging sounding iem that is able to provide impactful bass, clean midrange and detailed treble. There is a vibrant and controlled presentation which provides an immersive listen. In addition, the OH10 uses copper shells and it comes with a detachable 2 pins 0.78mm cable. The ikko OH10 is another excellent iem from ikko with its outstanding sound.
